Hi,

I have installed Unified Messaging at a customer site.
Now I 'am wondering if someone knows if there is a easy Unity PCA (user
web page) user guide, which I can give the users.
So that they know how to use this webpage?

Thnx

Regards Richard,

Those phones (as well as ATAs) are very susceptible to heavy broadcast
traffic. The best thing to do is simply reduce the amount of packets
getting put out the switch port to the phone. If there is no PC behind
the phone make it an access port in the voice vlan. If there is a PC
then make sure only the voice and data vlans are being
passed to the phone by the switch. This is why having them as
access mode with the voice vlan works best. If your switch doesn't
support that configuration then prune the non-voice/data vlans from the
trunk on that port.

It's a design limitation and if you want to swap out all your older
phones for new ones TAC isn't the right place to look. If you can work
out a deal with your partner/account team more power to you but I'm
pretty sure Smartnet doesn't cover hardware upgrades.

I have seen this on some networks. Try to clean up the network as
best as you can and reduce un-needed traffic to phones.

Also, with these model phones having the switchports going to phones
configured as access mode with voice vlan works better then
switchport configured as a trunk going to a phone from my run ins
with this problem. There was a recent thread heavilly discussing the
switchport config for phone connections.

All,
I was wondering about a specific problem I saw.

Voice quality deteriorates in 7912, 7902 and 7905 IP phones whenever
there is heavy traffic on the switch.

This was noted on a TAC Case:

Since the 7911 has more memory and features, is it the answer to this
issue?

Anyone have a thought on this?

Tks,
Jim
