I've got this all setup now on Windows 2000 server. Outbound emails are
going out through the relay server and being checked by our anti-spam
software. However I'm not getting any inbound emails from outside. What
settings do I need to change so that the mails get forwarded onto my
exchange server and then delivered to the mailboxes ?

Thanks

Steve,

Inbound mail requires MX/A records for the incoming gateway server. If your
inbound mail mail is to hit the spam gateway first, then this server must be
configured to forward the mail to the Exchange server. If the spam gateway
is running on a separate box (the preferred configuration) then typically,
you would configure the spam software to forward mail to the ip address or
fqdn of the Exchange server on port 25 (which, by default, would be
listening on this port). You would need to refer to the spam software
manual to determine where this gets configured.

However, if the spam software is running on the same box as the Exchange
server, then it may be necessary to reassign the ports. If you do have to
reassign ports on Exchange, you would do this through the properties of the
Default SMTP Virtual Server on the General\Advanced tab for the "listening"
port and on Delivery\Outbound connections for the "sending" port. Again, the
spam software should have instructions on whether port reassignment is
necessary.
