Hi,
I first created a new page using the authoring connector on my local
computer which has mcms installed and everything works ok. I modified the
PublishingTasks.xml file and the web.config so all good. But, and this is
where the problem lies, I tried creating something similar on our dev server
,
it created the page but there was no content in the page. Why would this
happen?? If I create a page straight through the website, it works ok,  but
does not put in the content when i create the page through word. I know that
word is not installed on the dev box. Would this be the problem??

that sounds strange. You should open a support case for this.
