Adding an entry with an equals sign ('=') in the DN causes protocol error
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Key: DIRSERVER-625
URL: http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/DIRSERVER-625
Project: Directory ApacheDS
Type: Bug

Versions: 1.0-RC3
Environment: Server: ApacheDS 1.0-RC3 (Windows XP, JDK 1.5.0_04)
Reporter: Stefan Zoerner

Adding the following entry to the ApacheDS server (default configuration, i.
e. server.xml unchanged) causes a protocol error:

dn: ou=nomen=omen,dc=example,dc=com
objectclass: top
objectclass: organizationalUnit
ou: nomen=omen

The '='-sign is probably the cause of the problem.

I used both Softerra LDAP Administrator and ldapadd (from Sun Java system Di
rectory Server) to add a file with the above content. Both attempts failed,
and the client connection was closed with a protocol error. ApacheDS was sti
ll up and working afterward
s (it still accepted client connections and served requests).

Note that I was able to import the file with the relevant entry in other ser
vers, i.e. Sun Java System Directory Server.
