Hi all

Recently, I have been told about online conferencing without Flashcom. i.e
the ability to present PowerPoint and Flash presentations to multiple
recipinets using Flash only , with drwaing tools over the presentation but w
/o Flashcom
or FMS ( and thus it will cost much less as a service).

1. Do you know of any such WORKING application?

2. If I have a Flash application that can handle the presentation for a
single user. What it takes to code a flash application that constantly looks
 for an
update in the presentation area (i.e the current file -jpg or swf- that is
presented from the server) and show it to other participants.

If you are responding to item number 2 please contact me offlist .

David Evgey

I'm working with another developer on a project that uses Ajax and PHP
to handle synchronized data (he's doing the Ajax bits, I'm doing the
Flash/FMS bits). I haven't seen a working model of such an
implementation before, but I'll post to the list once I see the thing
work.

In theory, it seems to be a good idea. The only part I'm not completely
convinced about is the efficiency of the clients constantly polling the
server for updates. On a small scale I'm sure it would work fine... but
I'm interested to see what happens when there are a few thousand users
on the system.
