Hi

I have a message that contains a string element that holds a date value in
the format yyyymmdd. Sometimes the element is empty. How does one map an
empty string to a date field. I want the destination xml to have the element
appearing with a empty value

You'll have to mark the destination node as nillable.  But setting the
value when the source node is empty is another challenge.  Search for
"xsi:nil".
