Check your relay restrictions.

Also, ISP's that deliver home connections usually block the use of private
smtp servers for spam reasons, you are supposed to use their smtp server.

I have a Win 2003 server with P3server and SMTP configured.
I am on a verizon DSL with a netgear firewall. Ports 80, 25, 110 are open
referring to the internal IP address of my server.
I am using TZO DNS services to handle my dynamic IP address.
The first time I set it up I could send and receive email
Now for some reason I can only send email. I can't receive anything.
Through Telnet I get the 550 5.7.1 unable to relay ###@myserver.net error.

I have searched hi and low. I see lots of people have similar problems with
this but there doesn't seem to be a clear cut option to fix it. Anyone have
any ideas to try?

Thanks,
Steve

Thanks for the response.

I did call verizon (first level support) and they said no ports are being
blocked.

I am not all that familiar with how relay works but under SMTP I have the
Use list option selected and the Allow All checked. There is nothing in the
list however. But I was under the impression that with Allow All checked
that wouldn't matter.

Thanks,
Steve

You need to add the ip's you want to allow in the list under relay, if you
have dynamic ip you will need to add it as a group of computers.

Please forgive my ignorance, which IPs do you add?
If my main IP is dynamic, do I enter it's current IP and update it?
Or is it the internal IP of my server?

Thanks,
Steve

Ok, it was my own ignorance.
Somewhere reading some web site I tried to create the domain
mail.mydomain.com.
But all I needed to do is enter the name of my domain.

How simple was that! It was late...
