Hi all,
I'm looking for an Open Source Backup Software that gives the power to
the user and runs on Linux.

What I mean by that is that I would like to provide the Backup Server
but have the *users* (familly), backup and restore their systems. They
run a mixed environment of Linux, windows and one MAC. They need to be
able to backup their files from the LAN but also from the Internet if
possible.

Does such a fancy Backup Software exist?

Thank you.
-Ed

Well Bacula (http://www.bacula.org/) and Amanda (http://www.amanda.org/) are
2 Open Source programs that do partially what you asked for. However, this
also requires some knowledge from the users' part.

You'll need to know some basics about backup:
- Users who make a backup don't need them.
- Users who need a backup don't make them.

(Disclaimer: validity 99% :-)

I know a better way to do it. There is also a free trial for you to test:

NEVER would use an online backup, too much of a security risk.
