Is there a way to setup a custom SMIT menu on a per user basis?  I want
to create a SMIT menu that has only the PRINT objects on it so that our
helpdesk can manage print queues through SMIT but nothing else.  I
thought a custom SMIT menu that had only what they could use would be
helpful.

Yes. I suggest you create a custom ODM for your site and your custom
entries, then execute SMIT on that ODM directory.

Any advice or articles that tell how to do such a thing?  I am coming

Search IBM's redbooks. There is only a single one that contains a single
chapter on how to add things to SMIT. Also on your AIX box there should
be am example directory showing how to add items to SMIT. You may also
contact dave.souder@ttiinc.com asking if he has enough free time to
send you the files that TTI has implemented, and he wrote, that creates
a full custom operator menu in a custom SMIT.

Also, do you know a way to prevent someone from using the F9 Shell
function from within SMIT.  I don't want a person to be able to shell
from SMIT.
