Hi Chris,
What is the observed experience at an IE attempting to get the file
and failing? i.e. what is seen, what http response code?
As an application how is the area where the exe resides configured
in IIS? i.e. are "script and executables" being allowed there?
Have you positively established that it is the .exe extension? ie. if the
this in zipped and an alternate link made available to the zip, then the
client can obtain with no problem.
Have you established whether this is a problem with IE, or with only
some IE installs? i.e. on same machine where IE has a problem can
Opera get the exe ?
Is the new W2k3 R2 IIS machine differently located than the prior
IIS box? i.e. any differences in proxy/firewall visibility?
