Hi All,

I recently installed RH9 and I did all the updates from the web. Now I try
to add some new programs and I opened the package management program. After
selecting some of the available programs, when trying to update, I get
errors that I need some packages. But I actually have newer packages instead
of the requested ones. What could I do?
For example I am asked for gtkhtml 1.1.8-5 and if I check with rpm -q
gtkhtml I get gtkhtml-1.1.9-0.9.1
Is there an easy way to install multiple programs at once, using the package
management?

Regards,
Nicolae

After add/remove reports some missing dependencies and you verify that you
do in fact have the package, but in a newer version, you have the option to
go ahead and install, ignoring the dependencies.

Hi William,

I tried again to install the X Software development and when it checks for
dependecies, it sais " the following packages could not be found on your
system. Installation cannot continue until they are installed". And I only
have an OK button, no ignore. If I click on OK, I get back to the initial
step. I can't ignore the packages, there isn't such an option.

Regards,
Nicolae
