Have any of you seen the latest Forrester Q3 B2C Commerce Platform results?
Commerce Server 2007 got a horrible write up!!!
I'm so sick of Forrester trashing MS products. I've worked with ATG and
Microsoft products and the marketing bias that Forrester puts out is just
unfair.
A typical ATG implementation is nearly $300K in software alone in comparison
to a similar $50K MS solution. The ATG suite does have some nice features,
but I have seen developers pull their hair out trying to get complex
implementations to work. It offers a lot out of the box, but it's
extensibility (without complexity) is to be questioned. Half of the crap
they load into that product is unstable and can only be implemented through
complex integration and "tweaking".
What is Microsoft's response to these reports? Is marketing even aware of
these reports? Does the product team actually compare and evaluate the CS
offering for future releases in regards to competing with these other
platforms?
I'm concerned because I have had too many clients look at Forrester as the
truth when it comes to evaluating a product, and this "just ain't fair"!
Forrester claims to be unbiased, but I just don't see it. Give me a team of
good CS developers and we would run circles around a comprable ATG team. If
you think I'm lying, the CS2007 go-to decision has been partially overlooked
by a very large soda beverage firm and the major telcom provider in the
southeast due to their decision makers reading FUD like this.
I can send you the results if you don't have a forrester account.
