I'm connected to an HDS DF600F SAN array through fibre on a Redhat
Enterprise Linux 3.0 server.   The array works fine, but I can't figure
out what to run on the system itself to detect the RAID level of the
drives presented.  ie I've got sdc-sdv as the drives connected to the
SAN.  I been told that the SAN has been configured with 8 RAID10 and
the rest RAID5.  Is there a utility that can confirm the drive mappings
to raid levels?  (On EMC I've use INQ, and xpinfo , but on these
nothign seems to show it correctly (not lunstat either)).   Now no
other software comes with this san for linux, no drivers, no utilities
-- it just presents them as scsi drives.

I'm not aware of any utility that will allow you to see the underlying
RAID level.  After all, the "drives" that you see entirely virtual
devices presented to your server by the controller.

Well, you could always try the black-box approach...

Knowing the relative write performance hit for RAID5 vs RAID10,
you could use an IO performance tool like IOzone or Bonnie+ on each.

Just be sure the data volume is large enough compared to the
controller write/read caches so you get a valid IO rate to disk.

I am also not aware of any tools to report this. You will need to use
Storage Navigator or DAMP to look into the disk array to figure out
which LUN is of what type.
