It all looks like it should work, but something is missing...I can't get my
WIndows printer to work from my Linux system. I set up CUPS, activated
Samba. All I get is a "Printing" message, followed by "0 % done'. I seem
to get this message using various settings in the CUPS configure settings,
so it is not much of a confidence builder to see it...

Also, in debian, I can't get the command "/etc/init.d/smb-client start" to
do anything...I did "apt-get install samba samba-common smb client swat"
and I did "/etc/init.d/samba start"
But the last recommended command does not run..
Any ideas?

I don't think I'm the right one to help you with printing, but an idea
struck me; does the cups user have write access to the spool folder?
About your smb-client:
try /etc/init.d/smbd start (or /etc/init.d/nmbd start Both need to be
running. You could also try /etc/init.d/samba [re]start

Thank you Hans.
I tried both things, but system replies "no such file of directory". I will
keep trying. I am reading through the Linux Bible by Christopher Negus,
and I see many things, but none seem to make the printer actually print. I
think Linux sees the Windows network printer, but I don't know what I am
missing to make it print.
