I am running Commerce Server 2007. It is running on Windows Server 2003.
It has become necessary for me to rename the Windows Server 2003 box. Can
anyone tell me the implications on Commerce Server 2007 and what I need to
do there to successfully rename the server box? I need to do this as quickl
y
as possible so any assistance anyone can offer is greatly appreciated!!

Thanks!!

Vince,

Generally speaking I've gotten into a "manageable" amount of trouble doing
this sort of thing with other boxes in the environment (specifically SQL and
BizTalk), but I've had little to no trouble renaming boxes exclusively
running Commerce Server.

That being said, if you can get away with PUP'ing your site code and
unPUP'ing it on a rebuilt box with a different machine name, I would take
that approach. It's a much cleaner way of doing things.

Beyond that, i'll defer to the MSFT people for the correct approach.

Joe

Hello Joseph,
Thanks for the advise. I thought about the Pub / Rebuild approach but that
really isn't a good option for us since our site also contains quite a bit
of Content Management Server content as well.

Hi Vince,

Max has a recent blog post about this:

Hope this helps.
