I'm a Linux newbie as well but managed to get a good remailer client
installed. I use debian, but the same packages are available to most
versions of linux I believe.

Install mixmaster
Install exim4 (you need this so mixmaster can use smtp to send messages).

I can't remember the defaults so you may have to do some figuring things
out but I don't think it is too hard.

If you use the Pan news client, you can reply to messages you read in Pan
or create in Pan and send them directly to Mixmaster. It's by far the best
way to use mixmaster.

Somebody named SofaKing wrote a script to do the job. If you use ask.com
to search, you may find mention of it.

Not really, but there are options if you're prepared to put some work in
yourself.

You don't need exim. Mixmaster can send directly, just set SMTPRELAY either
to
your ISP smtp address or to the mail address of the first remailer in your
chain.

You can do the same sort of thing using Sylpheed too, using Vim as the exter
nal
editor, and calling mixmaster from its command line. The same method can als
o
be used with Sylpheed under Windows.

However, while Pan or Sylpheed will allow you to send/reply to email/news,
neither will provide nym functionality like jbn. There is a EMACS utility t
hat
some people have used, but I've no experience of it, so can't help with it.

Someone posted a little while ago about using mixmaster directly for nyms, b
ut
I'm not sure it worked?

The guy said he was a newbie. For Crissake, give your advice in English or
don't give it at all.

I am glad to see somebody who feels the same way I do about Google. There
are loads of companies that provide services as good or better than
google, yet it seems to have hired a stellar PR firm to convince dopes
that it is the only game in town.

The only thing I have been forced to use it for is when searching old
usenet messages. If anybody knows of another service that caches them - I
usually look back no more than a year or so - I would be delighted to use
it and forget about google completely.

You can still google it protecting your privacy, I have tried others but
Google always comes up with the best results when searching.
