In your particular case the belt and braces approach may well be justified.
However, I would guess, that out of those people who are interested in and
would benefit from VOIP very few would actually need to go that far before
considering VOIP.
In my case, for example, all the data is regularly backed up and all the
programs I have either on CDs or can be downloaded again. It is pain
when the hard drive fails but it is "only" my time to get it all back
together.
As I am retired now I can afford to "waist" few hours to do just that.
