Hello. This must be a FAQ but I can't seem to find the answer. I am
running Debian Etch. I have installed a ups on com1. It works fine after
I chown root:nut /dev/ttyS0 and then chmod. I would like this to happen
automatically at boot time. I am sure there is a correct Debian way to
do this (using udev?), but I can't figure it out. Can anyone explain or
at least point me in the right direction? Thanks!

In case anyone has this same problem: It appears that an answer is to
add the "nut" user (the user corresponding to the ups software) to the
"dialout" group (which controls /dev/ttyS0 by default).

If there is a better solution or if this introduces problems, I would
appreciate hearing about it. Thanks!
