Just installed my very first Ubuntu, actually Kubuntu-6.10
for amd64.

How do I

Get rid of all graphical login?

Set up 1600x1200 res on a Samsung Syncmaster 755DF
not in the list of Samsung monitors with a Nvidia
GEForce-6600 card not in the list either? The kde
desktop setup doen't take me up to 1600x1200 and
there are black borders on the screen edge.

Is 3d possible?

Setup an HP-LJ6L printer? The closest one I tried
doesn't print the test page.

What file can I edit to give the equivalent of
Suse's /etc/init.d/boot.local to get some chores
out of the way?

Where do I copy an entire custom kde menu folder to
for it to be available to all users? [on Suse it
goes under /opt/kd3/share/applink]

Thanks for any help.

Oh, how much of this will apply similarly to
Debian 31r3-amd64, the next distro to come aboard?
