I think there must somebody how get very well
with the Linux video framework.

I now want to install X in my laptop, but I
get confused by how Linux get the video card
work.

I know every device must be drived by the kernel.
So, the Intel 945GM chipset will be drived by
the i810 kernel module. But what does the driver I
download from the Intel official website use to?

Help please, I just want to understand the Linux
video framework!

Thanks !

There may be a better group for this question, but can you tell us what
isn't working? I haven't had video problems with linux for about 10
years...

I want to write some video application, and so it is needed
to understand how Linux do with the video card, from kernel
driver to application library.
Could you please give some suggustion or some document to
follow?

Thank you!

Well, that's certainly not sysadmin, that's more "developer". Why not
google for the words:
linux video kernel driver developer
and see what comes up as a most frequent group?
