Missed the beginning of this thread, but in answer to the query in the
Subject: line, check out Rosegarden, specifically version 4 (or later, if
such exists). May not do *everything* you're looking for, but is a very
nice MIDI sequencer/editor, and can incorporate other types of audio file
formats as well.
