Hello:

I am a newcomer to iSCSI world and have a question:

Ques: What is most popular/stable iSCSI target protocol stack?

So far, I have found IET (freeware), intel-iscsi (freeware) and Chelsio
(not_free) etc.

If someone could please provide pointers to other stacks and maybe
share their experiences with different iSCSI implementations, I will
really appreciate that!

Thanks,
Vishal.
PS: If this is not the right forum to address this question, I
apologize! Please point me to the direct one.

Hello vishal,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISCSI has a few products mentioned. Some are
free such as the Nimbus target for Windows. Certaintly worth a look in addit
ion
to the comments from the experts from here.

The easiest solution I've come across so far is Microsoft's iSCSI Initiator
which you can download from MS. This will allow you to run iSCSI on any NIC
in your system. You can also use iSCSI Initiator on more sophisticated
HBA's that provide their own STorport miniport driver.

The recent versions of solaris from opensolaris.org include an iSCSI
s/w target with some nice integration with the new zfs filesystem as
well as an iSCSI s/w initiator.

Regards,
Vic

http://iscsitarget.sourceforge.net - best target Linux

http://www.open-iscsi.org - best initiator Linux

Need look last update date many Linux project dead long years.

http://www.datacore.com/products/prod_SANsymphony.asp - best target
Windows

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...&DisplayLang=en
- best initiator Windows. Why Rocketdivision Starport pay money
Microsoft initiator free?

Microsoft ISCSI target now Wintarget last year and year before. No
download now. I like it many more Datacore Sanmelody. Sanmelody

Best regards,
Ichiro
