I am having a problem setting up subwebs, the parent web permissions are not
being set correctly on subwebs even when it is set to inherit permissions.
I've tried running Check server health (which usually makes problems worse
anyway), but it just sits there with the gears spinning and says error on
page down in the corner. The error says object expected.

There are also corresponding events in the event log every time I try to
check server health, one says System exception: access violation, one says
Message: exception occured at 0x33061de4, and the last says
"unexpected C++ exception: FP internal error: pure virtual function called"

1. Close FrontPage and all other clients accessing this site /sub web
2. Stop IIS ( start-> run ->Cmd-> iisreset /stop)
3. backup your website
4. In the windows explorer go to root websitelocation browse to the
"_vti_pvt\"( in the root folder) rename the file “deptodoc.btr" to
“deptodoc.old"
5. restart the iis (start-> run ->CMD-> iisreset )
7. Restart iis once again (start-> run ->CMD-> iisreset )
8. open FrontPage and open root site now creating a sub web

Hope this helps

I'm having the same problem with one of my servers (windows 2003) and
unfortunately this solution didn't work. In another posting it
suggested going through all of the subwebs and ensuring the (_vti)
folders are all there. I'll try that next, however I was wondering if
you had any other suggestions.

At this point, creating a new website within IIS and migrating all
subwebs to it is an option, but with over 60 subwebs (all with unique
permissions) and 2 gigs of information, it would be a griding task.

Solution found !

Hi all,
Ive just spent 3 days with the same problem.
I installed new server and when moved my websites I faced problem that for t
he biggest web I could not activate FP2002 extension. I tried to extend but
then it failed, I could see some "Object not found"messge on Administration
page and in error log there were three inputs:
3/unexpected C++ exception: FP internal error: pure virtual function called
2/ Microsoft FrontPage Server Extensions:
(OS Error #-1073741819 Message: exception occurred at 0x780109b3)
1/Microsoft FrontPage Server Extensions:
Error #80002 Message: System exception: access violation.

and sometimes I could see in log error like:
Microsoft FrontPage Server Extensions: Received empty response from Micro
soft FrontPage Server Extensions

I have tried to delete that section and import it again thru FrontPage, but t
hen I coud see in FP warning that :
An error occurred accessing your FrontPage web files.
Authors - if authoring against a web server, please contact the webmaster fo
r this server's site.
WebMasters - please see the server's system log for more details

I tried relaculate many times, but still the same.
After mayn trials I notecedit failed in on big directory with many subfolder
s
Then I moved this directory to my localPC and start to test the reason.

OK, I will cut this explanation.
I found out,the problemis with the page having included many FP copoments in
side.

I have found out, that these stupid error are just because "Include file cach
e" setting.
I did not adjust Web site prefrormance setting in FP2002 extensions. And par
ameter "Include file cache" is set to default value of 16. Means 1 page coul
d contain up to 16 included FP components like included pages etc.

I changed the setting to Include file cache=50 and IT WORKS FINE !!!

Of course I have set up the other web site performance parameters as well.

I hope it would help someone having similar symptoms
