Just wanted to say thank you for the help.  I never did get the
original profile to work regardless of the fiddling I did with
extensions.  But it doesn't matter.  I changed my back up program to
back up the new profile, and even got smart enough to save all my
extensions in a separate directory.  And my confidence level went up
to the point I upgraded to version 2.0 of Firefox.  And all is working
very well.  Even found a theme I really like.  Life if great.  Many
