Stand alone Windows 2003 Server Standard W IIS6.

I have a website that works great using anonymous authentication. I would
like to lock it down so a user has to enter a local user account, username
and PW. If I uncheck Anonymous Authentication and give the local user
rights to the folder then I get the login popup like I want, but it doesn't
let the page display once the info is put in. I'm missing that one piece
of information to make it work.

Thanks in advance,

Tango

What you say "it doesn't let the page display" - what do you see when the
user puts his username/password in?

Cheers
Ken

The error after several tries says...

You do not have permission to view this directory or page due to the access
control list (ACL) that is configured for this resource on the Web server.

ALSO

HTTP Error 401.3 - Unauthorized:Access is denied due to an ACL set on the
requested resource.

In the snap in on that virtual directory I have the local user name and
security on the folder is OK. Allow Anonymous works great. Unclick
anonymous and challange works, but it won't allow content.

Thanks.
Tango

What are the NTFS permissions on the file in question?

Cheers

HMMmmm. You say file. I have security on the folder where the index.html
is located set to allow the local user account but not the file inside. On
index.html his account name was not set to read there. I'll try that.
