I posted this problem in another group but this is maybe the better place to
ask it...

I have a problem with Windows Server 2003 IIS SMTP server + POP3.

I have two domains, each assigned their own IP. I'm running two instances of
SMTP virtual server - one for each domain. This configuration is working
perfectly, i.e. the SMTP service can send/receive email without any
problems.

The problem comes when I configure POP3 (pop3 service that comes with
win2003):

Adding the first domain in the POP3 service automatically adds the domain to
the first default SMTP virtual server in IIS manager. Adding the second
domain, it also adds it to the first default SMTP virtual server! I want it
to add to the second SMTP server.

As it stands, I can only pop mails from the first domain, not the second.

Any ideas on how to make POP3 work with multiple domains across multiple
SMTP virtual servers (with separate drop folders)?

I could be wrong, but I don't think yu need two SMPT servers, but can
do this with one. There are perhaps reasons why you are using two of
them however, so I won't say it is the only way, just that you can
bind two IP addresses to it, IIRC.

Indeed, and everything works fine with one SMTP server and I can pop mail
correctly.  However, I need two because they have different access rules and
fqdn.

I'm really pushing into an area that I'm not an expert on, but what if
you pointed domain #2's MX record to domain #1 (whch has the POP
server?) That would not affect outgoing emails (so your different FQDN
and rules will be safe), and incoming would then be processed by a
single POP server with two domains. (I use three domains in my POP
server and that works well for me, a single SMTP server (I don't care
about FQDN and no rules issues ehre).
