Zonealarm says that it wants access to the internet and wants to act
as a server. I Googled it and came up with next to nothing. Any
ideas?
I have cable internet, Windows XP pro, linksys router, compaq p4 2.4
ghz.
Thanks,
Rob

Have you opened some of the recent "Aguilerra hardcore" Or "J-Lo
naked" and simillar attachments that flooded the usenet in the last
few days?
Anyway, if it is what I think it is, it is fairly harmless and easy to
clean. I have never seen syschost.exe, but saw it few times masked as
svshost.exe.
Just stop the suspicious process, do the file search fot that
filename, delete found file (usually it is svshost.exe in
/winnt/system32/ -- or /windows/system32/, depending on your OS),
run Ad-Aware to clean the registry entry and you are set.
Just make sure that you do not delete svchost.exe by mistake, it is
legitimate system process

Allow SVCHOST.EXE to access the internet, but don't allow it to act as a
server...

Even if the OP was somehow able to delete svchost.exe, the O/S would go to
System32/dllcache and put it back.
There are many O/S files that the O/S will put back in their right place, if
somehow, the file was deleted.

Hmm, no, but I did download a suspicious app from kazaa which when I
unzipped turned into about 100 .exe files. When I ran the one that I
wanted it didn't do anything, or so I thought, and I figured it didn't
work. I need to adjust my security settings for my own good.
Thanks,
Rob

No, for your own good you should not use kazaa, or most p2p programs.
But if you do get an anti-virus prog that scans p2p programs. But Kazaa
is just full of crap. I know to many machines that got bit by something
using kazaa, not to mention the spyware in their prog that you install
