Well, Gents, thank you for everything so far. I hope that such input
keeps coming.
A bunch of good ideas if I understood them all. I do understand some but
have some questions. let me throw these thoughts out there, and maybe I
can get some more input.
"workable" meaning staying connected to a proxy for more than a few
minutes before it doesn't work any longer. Say 30 minutes to an hour of
work would be nice. The best proxies I have found were from
http://proxylist.sakura.ne.jp they are updated every hour, not every
day. But, it is hard to find a good one which stays connected and
works ... and most importantly anonymous. I usually load them up and
check at all-nettools.com or some other site. Usually, it tells you that
you are anonymous and only reveals the proxy IP. On the ones that are
detectable, it lists my IP and states it's detectable. Yes, I know that
other things could be revealed. But, to really get info, are they going
to contact other countries who may or may not cooperate. It's not like I
really do anything unlawful. I just want to remain anonymous. Make them
really work hard as hell if they are going to find out whom I am. Is
Russia going to cooperate when no crime was committed. If it were a US
company, cooperation would be easy. Thus, I just want to make it
difficult for them. Anyway, the proxies seem to kick out to much. Then,
I must find another one ... very time consuming, and no real work
done ... tkaes days!
I did visit the TOR site. Read a lot. Still not sure about specifics.
Does TOR work through my existing internet provider? Then everything is
sent along a meandering path? Does it need configuring? How do I know
if I have it configured correctly? Do I have to become a node in their
network??? This was not clear. I prefer at this time. Does Vidalia
come with the TOR download? Or is it a seperate download? What does it
do? See, all these questions!!! ;-)))) A good proxy site would have
been easier!
I have no idea about loading a website through (binaries) newsgroup!
This is French to me! ;-))) I guess you were stating to make a web page
and anonymously send it through remailers to a newsgroup. But, it
wouldn't be on the web??? Doesn't make sense!
Yes, I am aware of some places where I could construct a site anonymously
like internet cafe's. But, you hit the nail on the head .... cameras!!!
If traced back, it could be determined depending on how long they keep
their film. Probably would be okay, but a long drive to and fro.
I went to freenet, but that requires becoming a node! At least that's
what I read. And, apparently they re-shuffle their information and delte
the stuff at some point. I want to have a permanent source for this
information. I did find a site databus.com I think, which offers like 10
GB of storage for free. That could be workable. And others could be
referrred there.
I think the easiest route would be to somehow work directly at the
tripod.com or geocities.com site anonymously.
Any further help or other ideas would be appreciated. I can tell you
that I am not lazy, just too busy to be learning so many things at once.
I just want to get this information up/website built but done
anonymously! this is waht I eluded to originally ... ease and simplicity!
Again, thank each of YOU! And, I look forward to your answers and help!
I may give TOR a whirl, if I get some answers to my questions. Is it a
browser or what? Seems like the questions never end!

What would be easier is creating the pages on your own computer then,
when they are complete, uploading to the site. You work on them
exactly as if they were on the site but they're in a directory on
your computer. I saw you brushed this suggestion off earlier.
Learning that is a XXXX of a lot easier than what you are trying to
get out of the group. Then you only need a few seconds on the proxy--
not to mention how much quicker developing the pages is when you
aren't constantly sending them to the site.
You want to whine here about proxies or do you want to do the job the
easy way and have no problems with staying on the proxy too long to
boot? TOR will be a major pain for you to interactively develope
pages on site. Use your brain. Look at your web page publishing
software and get a clue about developing pages on your computer and
then uploading.

I think the poster who keeps whining about proxies is just trolling. They've
said many things that just don't add up. For example...
[vbcol=seagreen]
If someone visited the Tor site and "read a lot", they wouldn't ask if
Vidalia comes with it (it says right there on the download page!) or
if Tor is a browser.
I wouldn't be surprised if it's one of those spam setups where a
person starts asking for something and then a day or two later,
someone comes in and says "Hey, go to http://privacy.blah to solve all
your problems" and they go "Wow this is the most amazing service I
have ever used, thanks so much!". Snore.

Stop right there. There's not one proxy on any list at that site that's
anonymous. None. Zero. They're all single hops to begin with, and the
vast majority are incorrectly configured machines discovered by
script-kiddie scanners, with administrators who see the unauthorized
traffic and plug the hole, or worse... start logging everything you do
so they can notify local and foreign authorities of your theft.

In most cases just USING these types of proxies is unlawful. And if you
think they won't cooperate with foreign authorities when you're
basically breaking into their private networks you're mistaken.

You really need to research international laws. In a lot of cases it's
easier for authorities in one country to get logs and information from
other countries than it is their own home country. Google "MLAT" for a
start. Then research the history of things like Echelon, which was
implemented outside the US even though it was a mostly US run project,
simply because it's legal to do that sort of thing outside the US and
not inside. In the digital age geographic boundaries are mostly
meaningless, and sometimes a bad thing.

Tor is actually anonymous. And yes, it will work through your ISP. Or
almost any other ISP, which is why it's as popular as it is in
oppressive countries like China which filter almost everything they
deem "unacceptable". Tor allows it's users to access restricted
information anonymously even from behind fascist firewalls.
Tor is also a fully functional SOCKS proxy, which means it's useful for
things other than HTTP. You can FTP, IRC, SSH, etc. All with strong
anonymity. Your "open proxies" aren't anonymous, and they're only good
for Web browsing.
> everything is sent along a meandering path? Does it need

Depending on your browser, getting Tor up and running is as simple as
installing Tor and configuring your browser to use a SOCKS proxy on
127.0.0.1:9050. No different than using "open" proxies. If your browser
doesn't support SOCKS you can either install Privoxy, or use the
"torify" utility. FTP and IRC clients can be configured likewise. For
Windows users there's a helper app called SocksCap that makes Torifying
applications easier. Adn if you're using Firefox the Vidalia package
not only installs tor and some support software, but automatically
configures your browser if I'm not mistaken.
And no, you don't have to become a node. Although you can if you want,
and set some pretty tight restrictions regarding when and how much you
transfer, as well as only only talking to other nodes (being "midleman".
