Hi all,
i am really pissed of with cisco's customer support.
They really don't tell what exactly is going on.
I just want to upgrade 2 of my 7825i2 servers running 4.2 ccm to 5.1.
It has been 2 weeks that they are telling me that there will be soon an
upgrade and 5 days ago
they told me that it is ready and to go to PUT to download it!!
I went to PUT web page and i found out that it was an upgrade from
4.1->5.1!!
I told them that i have 4.2 and i am still waiting for their response!!!

Has anyone find a way to upgrade from 4.2 to 5.1?

Cheers
Anthony

Anthony,

there won't be an upgrade path form 4.2 to 5.1. From 4.2 you can only
upgrade to 6.0.

Sorry for that!

Mat

Cisco has made it very publicly known that there will not be an upgrade
from 4.2 to 5 or 5.1

The only upgrade path is from 4.1 to 5.

I would honestly say wait another year and wait until 6 comes out

Just my 2 cents

Craig

This is due to feature support & DB migration. 4.2.3 has features that
are not supported in 5.x, these features sync. in 6.x.

Ryan good morning,
as i said, the TAC (605169425) was honest enough to tell me that it is
not their territory and to go to EMEA support.
But,shouldn't the TAC know that it is impossible to go from 4.2 to 5.X?
And for 10 days the EMEA customer services didn't tell me also that is
impossible!!
And after a post to cisco-voip forum, i got 5-6 answers almost immediately!!
I think that next time i will open a TAC to cisco-voip!

Cheers,
Anthony

That's what I do... there is generally a faster response time from here than
from TAC...

But sometimes you need the TAC case to cover your butt.

Thanks Ryan,
of course i won't try to upgrade 4.2 to 5.1 with the existing upgrade
kit. There is no
time for experiments!!
I will just wait for cisco to have 6.0 ready.
Will it be ready by spring 2007?
