I've started using SecondCopy as a supplement to my Retrospect backups and l
ike
it a lot.

Question:

Let's say I have SecondCopy's scripts pointed at external USB drive "F:" and
 let
it run for a couple of days. The directory structure on F is
F:
2ndCopy
Current
Superceded

Now I disconnect physical drive "F:" and plug in another USB drive and have
it
come up as "F:" - same directory structure.

Will SecondCopy be happy? i.e. will it's scripts run normally in that they
will fully populate "Current" the first time they run and then start populat
ing
"Superceded" as they replace files on "Current"? Or does it keep an DB
somewhere that will make it think that most files are already backed up to
"Current"?

Per (PeteCresswell):

I bit the bullet, formatted a new drive, and gave it a try.

*Seems* to work.... flip-flopped back-and-forth between two drives with the
same
letter and there didn't seem tb any problems. I'd suspect that SecondCopy
doesn't keep a DB - that it works from the directory lists on-the-fly... and
 I'd
call that a Good Thing...
