I am trying to backup my system to an IDE drive, however I cannot see the
drive in my /dev directory. I am sure it is something simple I failed to
do, but I cannot figure it out. Hopefully someone here can guide me.
Here is the information.

# more /var/log/dmesg | grep -i tape
hdb: COMPAQ SDX-420C, ATAPI TAPE drive

hdb is not in fstab or mtab file:
cat /etc/fstab
# This file is edited by fstab-sync - see 'man fstab-sync' for details
LABEL=/                 /                       ext3    defaults        1

/dev/fd0                /media/floppy           auto

cat /etc/mtab
