In whose name is your domain registered?
If it's in their name then you're screwed.
Who's hosting your site?
If it's them you're screwed.
Get the domain in your name then transfer it to a new Web host.
You're new webmaster should be able to help with this.
Even if you keep the same Web host (as long as it's no them),
change the Username and Password to prevent their access.
Also, what does your contract say about maintenance fees?
