I'll throw this to you knowledgeable folk as so far the TAC has been
stumped.

We are trying to obtain a complete list of all the serial numbers of the IP
phones in our network.
Ciscoworks user tracking does not hold the Serial.
A portscan reveals that SNMP is open on a phone but I have no idea what the
community string is.

Does anyone have any other ideas to obtain all phone Serial Numbers
remotely?

Browse to its IP address, you can click on the hyperlink via CCMAdmin or
just type it in into your browser, not sure how you can do it via SNMP
though.

You can go to the phones web page to get the serial number. There is a compa
ny called CMReports that makes a scanning tool that scans your network and b
uilds a report from the phones web pages. $49 for this. Only certain model p
hones are supported that re
port this info via web page.

I also know a few people who pieced together a quick and dirty script to pol
l phones web page and get this information.

there that do the same thing.

The phones also have an xml page from where info can be obtained.

Thanks to all who responded.

I ended up hacking together a shell script that retrieves the data from each
phones http interface,
I was hoping that through SNMP it could be somehow integrated into Campus
Managers inventory report.

Oh well, another request to the Account Rep
