I have a situation where I have a DN that is call forwarded to a cell phone,
we have a GSM gateway so all calls to cells route via that but do not displ
ay caller ID. I need the forwarding from this particular DN to foward toa ce
ll and display the exact DN it was forwarded from. So I have set up a route
pattern of the cell phone number to route calls via the PSTN gateway, this wo
rks fine and I can see the caller ID of the PSTN, however we only send calle
r ID of our main number. I have tried adding an external phone number mask t
o the line and setting the Use External Phone Number mask on the route patte
rn, but I still only get the main number displayed. Can anyone advise how I
 can get this working.

check how (number of digits / format) the caller ID is actually sent to the
Provider (e.g. debug isdn q931)
Depending on the Provider and the Services you have on your PSTN Trunk the
Provider will overwrite your caller ID if it is not recognized ( e.g. is not
out of the DID Range you have on the Trunk). Usually the Provider overwrites
the unknown caller ID with the main number of the PSTN Trunk...

In the US, ostensibly to be able to prevent caller id spoofing, many
PRIs are set up to allow only the caller id of the range of numbers that
it routes (Calling Party Screening - Telephone Number Range). If you
try to send an unallowed number in the caller id, it will default to the
CPDN (calling party default directory number) of the PRI. With our
provider, we have to specify an additional number outside the original
range by adding it to the Screening TN Range. Maybe this is similar.
