For Debians reasons Firefox was replaced with Iceweasel. At the same time
some of Firefoxs functions were either crippled or removed.

I am overseeing a small website for a local community centre, I found a
host that is using a web development software called SOHOLauncher which
can be used with your local web browser to develop a site. The reason for
this approach is that there will be a number of people with very little
experience modifying the content of designated pages, without cutting
into my time.

To make a long story short, after a week of head scratching and enquires
in soho forum, I had to scrap iceweasel and reinstall firefox to be able
to enter text in the webpages.

It is really annoying that Debian forks to a crippled browser for the
sake of an icon.

It would be more annoying if Debian lost its distinctiveness by
abandoning its principles, because the diversity of the OSS community
would be reduced. There's nothing else like Debian; feel free not to
use it if it doesn't suit your requirements.

What functions?

What the hell were we supposed to do? Mozilla won't let us use their
tradmark. A full refund is available for the asking.

I have no problem viewing pr0n with iceweasel. Er, I mean: a friend
has told me that he has no problem viewing pr0n with iceweasel.

I have been using Debian for 3 years, is the distro of my choice, if they
keep removing features from apps because it doesn't fit into their dogma.
Debian may not be so attractive to users in the future.

Usually update are improvements I don't see how removing features can be
called an improvement. Maybe someone with Debian will decide that frames
suck, which they do, and remove frame rendering from the browser update.

Peter J Ross cry out in news:slrnf2d55e.a1v.pjr@pjr.gotdns.org...

that box.....
