Your question is actually a serious one and reasonably courteous.
Amazing for this group. Thank you for such unusually civil behaviour.
The answer is that I tried for two weeks to configure mixmaster as a
remailer in linux but failed. It sent out dribs and drabs of messages,
but for the most part they just sat in the pool and when, now and then,
a few did get written out of the pool, they, for the most part,
disappeared. I tried three different smtp servers to no avail. The
behaviour of the thing was and is inexplicable to me.
I finally decided to try writing a remailer in Python, partly as a way
to run a remailer in Linux, since I have jettisoned Windows, and partly
for the challenge of doing it.
I'm well aware that, even if it incorporated the decryption of mixmaster
messages, it wouldn't approach the existing mixmaster remailer; but we
all do our mite for anonymity, and this is what I'm able to do.

A few years ago I had never run linux, only windows and, as far as I
could tell, having used it for some years, mixmaster running under
windows was not a remailer. Are you now telling me that mixmaster
running under windows is a remailer in addition to being a
decryption/encryption program? Amazing!

Yeah, I've read the online manual, configured
/var/lib/mixmaster/mix/mix.cfg, /etc/mixmaster, templates, generated
keys, the whole nine yards. I know it's a remailer (under linux).
I would like to see evidence for your contention, if it is your
contention, that mixmaster under windows is a remailer. I hate to think
I ran Reliable all those years when I could have run mixmaster under
windows as a remailer; but if that's the case, I have to live with it.

I hope I have answered your question satisfactorily.
