    Remote site firmware update

At a new remote site, I've temporarily configured CME mode on the router
to allow it to be used to upgrade firmware on phones instead of the
phones upgrading over the WAN. (About 200 phones)

telephony-service
load 7914 S00105000200
load 7970 SCCP70.8-2-1S
load 7936 cmterm_7936.3-3-13-0
max-ephones 200
max-dn 200
ip source-address {ip address} port 2000
auto assign 1 to 100
auto assign 1 to 200
max-conferences 12 gain -6
transfer-system full-consult
create cnf-files version-stamp 7960 Apr 25 2007 19:05:29

However, according to #sh cdp nei det on the 3750, some of the phones
seem to be ending up with TERM70.DEFAULT and aren't upgrading.

Is there something I can do to get those phones to move forward? Can I
just make a copy of SCCP70.8-2-1S, call it TERM70.DEFAULT and make it
available in the TFTP server configuration?

I don't want to brick the phones and have to RMA them, because that
would make me sad.

First make sure all of the files from the 8-2-1S zip file are on the
flash of the router. Then make sure in IOS you allow tftp access to
them. Don't go renaming files.

Thanks - I had forgotten about the .zip file and had just copied over
the files from the tftp path of the Publisher. I still need to get
those phones reset (doing a shut / no shut on the port doesn't kick them
into "Try again" mode).

Robert,

Try this test with one of the phones >

Manually change the Firmware Load on the Device page to point to the new
version
Stop all TFTP services in the cluster
Shut/No Shut the remote phone

I like the idea - hope you get it working!!

Erik

Underneath telephony-service configuration, you'd want
to enter 'reset all' to do a reset on your phones...OR
you can reset by the type of phone if you need to if I
remember correctly.

What have you for your tftp-server configuration?

The usual stuff; once Ryan reminded me about the rest of the files in
the .zip it went OK.
