You were running Linux. *That* can run mixmaster.

Your problem was that you never told us what issues you were having or
what errors came up or why you couldn't get it to work. How can anyone
provide advise as to what you are doing wrong if you don't tell us
exactly what the problem is?

Why don't you post here the errors you had from Mixmaster, see if
anyone can help. Telling us 'mixmaster didn't work' really doesn't
provide any clues.
