I just HAD to share the good news. I purchased an Orinoco wireless modem
on ebay. I almost passed out when I read the old documentation to build and
install. I am a newbie. HOWEVER, I just configured the modem ("Networking"
on the menu) and Bingo! No fuss, just a rock solid connection.

"This is not your father's linux" as the car commercial says. :-)
