I am running Windows XP Pro, I upgraded FP98 to FP2000. I
created a website, and was getting to view the site via
http://localhost/index.htm. I was also able to view the
site via http://computername/index.htm, at this point I
am not sure which responded correctly.
Due to other application problems I was forced to run
System Restore.
FP2000 did not respond correctly after the restore so I
re-installed it, and the ServExt. Now my site does not
show the hit counter or accept data in my Guestbook or
Discussion. Am I using the proper http addresses?
There is also another site, the same in content as
localhost, in the FrontPage Webs folder on port 8080 I
believe, of which I have no idea how to access. Quite
obviously I'm a newbie to FP.
I truly wish someone would have a detailed setup and
deployment Web site on which these things could be
viewed. Microsoft's documents are so vague, and they keep
referring one to some other site that has nothing to do
with the problem at hand, but one doesn't know 'til they
go there.
Yeah, OK, I didn't take a course on this subject. Just
trying to get past the basics so I might be able to learn
something.
