SocksCap is a 16 bit program and won't run on Vista 64, plus it's
history now anyway.

So, I'm trying to replace it with TorCap2, since FeeCrash, uh, crashes
on XP, XP SP2, and Vista 64.

I can't figure out how to configure Agnet to work with TorCap2.

I have TorCap2 set up to launch the application, in this case Agent
4.1. But after TorCap2 launches Agent, Agent just bypasses TOR and
connects to teh newsgroup server.

Can TorCap2 do what SocksCap did? If so, please advise, and thanks.

Your TorCap2 configuration would help diagnose this problem, but I suspect
you're trying to connect as SOCKS 4a or 5 and TorCap only speaks SOCKS 4.

A bad thing by the way because it leaks DNS information.

If you're connecting to a single news server or even a small number of
them, you may want to consider setting up socat and/or stunnel and making
hard connections rather than relying on the often flaky connect() call
interception things like Freecap and Sockscap use.

As a side note it may be that using connect() is the reason these
applications fail/crash in a 64bit environment. I would imagine the
networking stack and methods are quite different.

So what do you suggest for the application below, since SocksCap won't

Proxifier resolve remotely so it won't leak DNS?
What about SockCap32, which I found a copy lately?

SocksCAp32 won't install on Vista either.

Well, the news I use isn't encrypted, so Stunnel probably won't be of
use, unles there are other reasons to use it.

Can you explain "hard" connection? Will socat take the place of
SocksCap for linking Agent to TOR? Will Socat run under Windows?

I stil can't understand why Agent doesn't include an option to use a
proxy. Seems old school.
