Your TorCap2 configuration would help diagnose this problem, but I suspect
you're trying to connect as SOCKS 4a or 5 and TorCap only speaks SOCKS 4.
A bad thing by the way because it leaks DNS information.

If you're connecting to a single news server or even a small number of
them, you may want to consider setting up socat and/or stunnel and making
hard connections rather than relying on the often flaky connect() call
interception things like Freecap and Sockscap use.
