Hi all!
I just uploaded OmniMix 1.3.1.
The more important changes are:
- Bugfix: The non-standard 'Date' headers of nym server replies are
now converted to an RFC compliant format.
- Option for trying to send Mixmaster chunks directly to the entry
remailers with a fall back on the 'collective' Anon SMTP server on
failure.
- File logging of Mixmaster calls added.
The strategy behind the direct delivery to the entry remailers is as
follows:
You have to activate 'Use 'Anon Mail S' Host'. Now, if the (randomly
selected or fixed) Anon SMTP server is configured in a way which
allows to request resp. deliver to random entry remailers by showing
it isn't bound to a certain remailer (indicated by 'Entry: don't
modify remailer chain'), the requirements are met to use this feature.
Go to the 'Anon S' > 'Direct' tab to activate it, select whether to
route the connections through Tor and which port and encryption method
to try.
Now, when an anon message is sent, for the recipient's domain of each
chunk coming from Mixmaster an nameserver lookup is done and OmniMix
tries to send the packet directly to the resulting mail exchange
server with the lowest priority number using the port / SSL
combination previously defined. For timing reasons there's only one
chance. All chunks that haven't been delivered directly are afterwards
dumped at the 'normal' Anon SMTP server.
As connecting to nameservers that are assigned by your ISP would be a
bad idea especially when using Tor, the 'Services' > 'DNS' tab allows
to add servers of your own choice. For every lookup OmniMix randomly
selects a different one from that list.
I didn't have much time for testing (leakage of information when
routed through Tor etc.), so please be cautious and tell me about all
oddities.
You'll find the new version at

Kind regards
Christian
