Hi Folks!

For installing WebSphere 6.0 (Network Deployment), can I just copy the entir
e directory structure from one server (where WAS 6.0 is already installed an
d cells configured) to another server and it should work??

I know we will have hard coded hostnames/ports in config files. How do we ge
t around that?

I basically want to know if I can migrate the software to new server without
actually having to install the software again on the new Server.

Thank you.
- K

Don't. You won't be able to apply fixpacks to the new server.

Do you mean /usr/lib/objrepos/vpd.properties file?

What about copying it too?

Have you explored CIP(Cutomized installation package).
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infoc...re_car_gui.html
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infoc...ig_archive.html

I have seen lot of people doing that not sure how they did it but seems like
 it is doable.

You might get it to work. Somewhere down the line, I wouldn't be
surprised if something breaks, and you're running an unsupported config,
and ....
