I'm looking for a way to use Apache as a proxy to return only text to HTTP
requests.  A simple scenario would be a client surfing the web as usual, but
would only get text in his browser because all requests are proxied through 
a
specially configured Apache web server.  This is perhaps similar to what sea
rch
engine bots do, but with the aim of providing content to users, and preservi
ng
the layout of pages as much as possible.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
