Hi,

Iam getting the following error message when i try to access:
HTTP Error 401.1 - Unauthorized: Access is denied due to invalid credentials
.
http://localhost/
or
any part of the website on my Server which is having Windows 2003 server
with IIS 6.0, the problem is that when we restart the server machine the
problem disappears and the everything starts working. But the next day the
website stops automatically and gives the above mentioned error message.

We tried re-installing the IIS but of no use.
Please help, its Urgent.

Regards

It sounds like your server may have an external process that is
preventing preventing IIS from functioning. IIS doesn't have any
behaviors or features that work on restart but fail with 401.1. But
there are lots of ways for servers to be configured or secured into
this sort of behavior.

We don't know what sort of external user configuration is involved,
but that is really where you need to start. IIS is just the victim.
