We are still in the early stages of setting up our portal, but it is live an
d we are currently adding content. Our main problem is the Document Manager.
It runs so slow that it's practically un-useable. Just opening a document t
akes almost a minute, and u
ploading...forget about it. May as well go have lunch and come back.

Any one else experience this? Is this a common occurrence? I'm thinking this
can't be normal, and I hope maybe it's well known and has a fix.

Server specs:
Windows 2003 R2 SP1 Enterprise
3.20 GHz
3.75 GB Ram

It is a virtual server, and it's host is setup in a Blade Center.

Any ideas or suggestions appreciated.

Not Cloudscape. We're using SQL 2005.

When you say it's a virtual server, I assume Vmware ESX or something alike?

While opening a document, what do your resource usage (cpu, ram) at the Vmwa
re-level tell you about the virtual server that Portal is running on?

Yes, VMWare ESX 3.0.1 I believe. I just looked at the stats, and it doesn't
really seem unreasonable. RAM hardly moved, CPU hit a max of 71% for a few m
oments.

Unfortunatly, SQL Server 2005 is still an unsupported platform.

Normally IBM supports newer releases of all supported database servers, but
in the event of SQL Server, support is only given for "2000 SP 4"

So, unless you were given the "go ahead!" by IBM to integrate SQL Server 200
5 into your Portal environment - and in that case, they should assist you in
solving the performance issues )- you're more or less on your own...

I do not believe we had IBM's blessing concerning our version of SQL. I will
place a call tomorrow and see what they say. Thanks pascal for your help an
d input.
