BE11d is shit at this.
Are you using Exchange with individual mailbox restore but not using the
legacy method? You can tell if you look at the backup folders and there
will be lots of IMG files in them. These are basically copies of your
exchange DB. Symantec call the 'Granular Restore' IIRC.
Unless anyone knows better, this doesn't work- it creates these IMG
folders as non-overwriteable despite whatever you set as the media set
for the job, so they fill the disk. Then the folder stops. After I got
to my wits end with it, we got a consultant in, who had seen it before.
As far as any of us can see, the only way to fix it is to revert to the
legacy (MAPI) access method for individual mailbox restore. You'll need
to delete the IMG files too, but bear in mind the stuff below.
If that still leaves you with a full disk and you don't have the above
situation, you'll have to:
1. make sure the overwrite period is short enough or the disk space big
enough for all the jobs that use it.
2. Make sure the jobs are set to use overwriteable media.
If you need to clear space:
1. Move the media you need to delete to 'retired media', then delete it.
I deleted the oldest IMGs, then did a legacy backup, then deleted the
remaining IMGs. It now works.
2. Remove the virtual media files from the disk with windows explorer.
Obviously this will delete the backups on that media :-(
To make the folder go back online, pause it, and then unpause it.
Good luck. Post back on how you get on.
