Our company uses Ms Exchange Svr. 2003 SP2 with Outlook 2003. All of a
sudden last week, we started getting a lot of NDR reports with the following
error message:

There was a SMTP communication problem with the recipient's email server.
Please contact your system administrator.
<EXCH.XXX.XXX #5.5.0 smtp;550 xf71772.176>

Nothing has changed on the server end at all. The messages that have been
kicked back all have files attached, mainly PDF files. I cannot find any
information on the error (xf1772.176) and I'm very frustrated at this point.
Could anyone shed some light on this situation ?

Thanks in Advance,

Logs are your friends. What do your logs say for these outbound sessions?

I ran a smtpdiag to the recipient and everything passed except for the
following at the very end of the log:

Successfully connected to cinfin.com.s8b2.psmtp.com.
Connecting to mail2.cinfin.com [216.196.231.37] on port 25.
Connecting to the server failed. Error: 10060

They use Postini and so do we.

And here is the header information:
