A student is getting hang up calls and the number is not showing up on
her caller id. There is a trace that I can do on that phone and I don't
remember what it is. Can someone help me out here? Thanks,

Kathy,

Is the router where the incoming calls using a PRI T1
circuit? If so, you can look on the box through its
logs to check what calls came from where.

OK. so how are others dealing with Telemarketer spam VM with no caller ID.
I'm running h323 so I could block the Calling number but they aren't sending
Caller ID so I'm lost for an answer.

That's sorta my question. Does MCID give you the numbers?

Kathy, Scott;

What version of CCM are you using?

We're using 4.1(3) here so this URL would be
appropriate for us.

That's all fine and good but my Telco will not do it unless they are
threatening callers. Telemarketers are not classified as threatening. :-(

other ideas?

To my understand, MCID is dependent on your circuit provider supporting =

the messages back to them. Not sure if they then provide the =

information to you or just mark it for future reference (i.e.; subpoena)

regarding telemarketers, i've used the story that the number they've called
triggered an emergency response that costs a few thousand dollars to
initiate and to be prepared to get a call from their local police and that
if they don't remove this number right away that they will be charged on all
subsequent calls if not already charged on this one.

it works.

We were having a problem with a telemarketer calling a particular number a
lot. The number was blocked and the customer was so frustrated that they
were ok with blocking all unknown numbers. I used the following
translations on my h323 gateway

!
voice translation-rule 2
rule 1 reject /^$/
!
!
voice translation-profile block_anon
translate calling 2
!
dial-peer voice 90039 pots
trunkgroup TWBackUp3T1s
call-block translation-profile incoming block_anon
incoming called-number 1234561234 !(Obviously just use the number you want
!	to block incoming calls to)
direct-inward-dial

Seems to work ok, bad thing is it blocks all unknown calls. Maybe you could
do some more translations to force the number to some sort of recording
requesting that the caller call back from an unblocked number
