Hello Stefan and fellow gurus

I am trying to point towards
http://localhost/
instead of localhost/<TopChannelName>

Therefore I am having the same problem as defined in
http://groups.google.com/group/micr...b001bea32d398b/

I bought the book "Building Website with MCMS".
On page 72 (chap 4) , it says
"Map Channel Names to Host Header Names :
We discuss this feature in depth in chapter 5, including the correct
you to set it up. "

This setting seems to be the key to my problem.
However there is nothing in Chapter 5 dealing with that.

Could you please tell me how to do this, provided this is the
solution ?

Cheers.

Hi Sagamore,

first of all: do you have enterprise or standard edition?
If you have standard edition this feature is not available.
What you are looking for can only be achieved in the enterprise edition.

Here are the steps on how to achieve this:

Cheers,

Hello Stefan,

Thank you for your early reply.

I don't know if that the answer you expect but

* the MSDN CD I have here states "Microsoft Content Management Server
2002 Developer Edition", which upon install was patched with SP1A.
* When opening the SCA, I do have the option "Map Channel Names to
Host Header Names" set to "Yes" (I was able to configure it).

All that aside, I have already read the help you provided, to no
avail.

As a matter of fact, in the "host" file I can do this :
127.0.0.1	dev.someBrand.com
but I can't do that :
127.0.0.1/<myTopChannel> dev.someBrand.com
nor that (obviously) :
<myTopChannel> dev.someBrand.com

Besides this, I am developing on Win XP Professional, therefore I am
limited to only one Website on IIS...

Thanks for your help.

Hello Stefan,

After many hours struggling with the intricacies of MCMS, I think I
found out.
Sometimes I think I was facing mere cache problems. Closing all
browsers, after changing settings (host file and Channel Mapping Yes/
No) did the trick.

Thanks for your support.

Best regards.
